6 Ways To Improve Your Mood

Hey all! Hope your day has been lovely, and if not then here are 6 fast and easy ways to improve your mood!

After a long day, sometimes all we want to do is just lay in bed with a pint of ice-cream and watch a movie. Obviously, that’s not the best way to deal with things but here are some fast, easy and healthy things you can do to improve your mood throughout your day.

-Step outside

The worst thing you can do while feeling bummed is stay in your room. Step outside and just breath, look at the sky, take in your surroundings. Removing yourself from whatever is causing you tension. staying in the same environment will just cause you more stress.

– Exercise

I have this really bad habit (that I’m working on) where I will make something yummy to cheer me up…but 10 pounds later I’ve FINALLY accepted the fact that eating your feelings is no bueno! Exercising can be very beneficial not only for your body but also your mind. Chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin are released while you exercise, thus making you happy! So you improve your mood and tone up! You can hit the treadmill or do some abs and leg exercises in your backyard or bedroom floor works just fine!

-Turn on some music

Music is very powerful. It can take you back to some great memories. I really like to listen to some Luke Bryan. It takes me back to my senior year of high school where my friends and I used to drive around the Metro parks with our windows down, so country I know. But listening to an old song can make you feel much better.

-Take a shower/bath

I’m at college and unfortunately don’t have a bathtub in my apartment, tragic I know! But you can either take a nice relaxing bath or a hot shower. There is something about feeling warm water hit your skin, like it’s washing away all of the worries from the day. A great way to clear your head and relax for a bit.

-Watch some youtube videos

People usually say to watch a feel-good movie but I swear by youtube. One of my favorite YouTubers is Shane Dawson. He has great conspiracy videos which I’m obsessed with! You can also watch a documentary. There is a wide variety to chose from! Helps take your mind off of things.

– Write out what you’re thankful for

It’s hard to realize how lucky we are in the middle of our chaotic day, so when you have some free time, get a piece of paper and write out some things you’re thankful for today. You could write how you’re thankful for your family, friends, job and even things like your car etc

In a week your mood will improve, you will feel much more energized and ready to take on anything the day may bring your way.

Be A Little Extra!

Last night I came home from school, ran up to my room and jumped into bed. Let’s just say I had a REALLY long week! In between of talking 20 credit hours and getting my designs ready for my Universities fashion show, I forgot to do something nice for myself. So I got out of bed, grabbed my makeup, hair straighter (I use it as a curler) some cute comfy clothes and off to the biggest, most glamorous mirror in my house I went! Conveniently located in the bathroom next to my bedroom ha!

 

IMG_4763.JPG       I put on the new album by Camila Cabello, highly recommend it, then, of course,  my bedazzled cat ears. Because why not! Curled my hair, did my makeup like I was about to take myself out on a date. Next thing I knew I had taken my shellac kit and started doing my nails. Girl, I was being so extra that my camera had to come out! Started taking selfies. Yes, me taking selfies…wild I know. Felt like a changed woman. It was so nice to take the time and appreciate myself. I think that in the mists for trying to get things done before deadlines and getting prepared for the day, we forget to take care of ourselves, I know sometimes I do.

Remember to love yourself, and BE A LITTLE EXTRA!
